چکیده

Dennettia tripetala (DT) is a tree found in rain forest belt of Nigeria, Cameroon and Ivory Coast. The seed commonly used preparing food for mothers after delivery because it believed to play role postpartum uterine contraction. There however no scientific evidence validating this claim. Hence, the study aimed investigate effects DT on non-pregnant pregnant uterus using mouse model. dried seeds were macerated methanol extract investigated tissues isolated from mice. was examined spontaneous contraction, contractions induced by oxytocin, high potassium chloride (KCl)-induced depolarization. Its effect also evaluated calcium ion (Ca2+) release internal stores. suppressed contractility both concentration-dependent manner. It significantly inhibited elicited KCl oxytocin-induced uterus. oxytocin Ca2+-free medium has provided that relaxing possibly blocking intracellular Ca2+ released influx extracellular Ca2+. result shown benefit reducing risk post-partum hemorrhage, however, may have potential benefits management dysmenorrhea preterm labour non-gravid gravid uteri respectively.

Investigation into Hypoglycemic, Antihyperlipidemic, and Renoprotective Potentials of Dennettia tripetala (Pepper Fruit) Seed in a Rat Model of Diabetes

This study investigated the hypoglycemic, antihyperlipidemic, and renoprotective potentials of Dennettia tripetala (DT) in a rat model of diabetes. The hypoglycemic activity in crude methanol seed extract of DT (CMEDT) and methanol seed fraction of DT (MFDT) measured by glucose oxidase method was increased by 47.37% and 28.72%, respectively, after 8 hours of administration. After 10 days of tre...

In vitro ischemia promotes calcium influx and intracellular calcium release in hippocampal astrocytes.

The intracellular calcium concentration ([Ca2+])i of astrocytes within rat hippocampal slices was measured during simultaneous hypoxia and hypoglycemia to examine the early intracellular signaling events induced by this in vitro model of ischemia. Hypoxia-hypoglycemia for 3.3-7.5 min evoked [Ca2+]i increases in astrocytes iontophoretically loaded with calcium orange (11/14 slices; 2.5 min to pe...

Antinociceptive and antiinflammatory effects of essential oil of Dennettia tripetala G.Baker (Annonaceae) in rodents.

In this study we evaluated the analgesic and anti-inflammatory activities of the essential oil (EO) of the fruits of Dennettia tripetala in rodents. The plant is a tropical African plant and the fruits are commonly eaten as spices and consumed as a stimulant, and its various parts are used in the treatment of fever, cough and as anti-emetics.The analgesic effects of the oil was assessed in mice...

Store-operated calcium entry and calcium influx via voltage-operated calcium channels regulate intracellular calcium oscillations in chondrogenic cells.

Chondrogenesis is known to be regulated by calcium-dependent signalling pathways in which temporal aspects of calcium homeostasis are of key importance. We aimed to better characterise calcium influx and release functions with respect to rapid calcium oscillations in cells of chondrifying chicken high density cultures. We found that differentiating chondrocytes express the α1 subunit of voltage...

Intracellular Calcium Mobilization in Response to Ion Channel Regulators via a Calcium-Induced Calcium Release Mechanism

Free intracellular calcium ([Ca2+]i), in addition to being an important second messenger, is a key regulator of many cellular processes including cell membrane potential, proliferation, and apoptosis. In many cases, the mobilization of [Ca2+]i is controlled by intracellular store activation and calcium influx. We have investigated the effect of several ion channel modulators, which have been us...
